Kim A Customer at Sofa Outlet. Palo Alto, Ca After buying a sweetheart of a fixer-upper in a beautiful, coveted part of the SF Bay Area, I was super excited about re-creating the space to make it a home my family and I couldn't wait to return to, a home in which we would entertain often, a place to create a new set of memories.
Truth be told, I think I have pretty good taste and I do love to shop! But I found that shopping to redecorate and remodel was a whole other level than say, shopping for clothes or even a home accessory here or there.
Admittedly, when I first went to the sofa outlet in San Mateo, I was feeling a little overwhelmed. They were the 4th or 5th stop that day and as I wandered around the showroom I was in a bit of the daze. Kimi approached me, let me know she'd be there to help and just welcomed me to walk around. There was no pressure, just a very casual friendliness. That day we left without purchase, went home, had a glass of wine and called it a wrap. I went back to the sofa outlet the very next day. We'd seen a couch there that caught our eye, we wanted something a little different/unique so I went for a second look.
Thankfully, Kimi was working that day as well. I asked her to see the couch, we talked about it and the next thing I knew she was helping me customize both the couch and a beautiful, comfy and sophisticated leather recliner. That was 5 months ago and today my home is even lovelier then I could've imagined.
The team at sofa outlet has provided exceptional guidance on many levels, including design, aesthetics, continuity and flow. They are always mindful of budget and so they help us to prioritize, mixing custom-made pieces with "off-the-shelf," with creative ways to incorporate certain existing pieces. I've had the privilege of working directly with Kimi and Sadii, both of whom are creative, enthusiastic and very collaborative designers, they've been a dream team!
Reviewed by Barb B. Menlo Park, CA My daughter found this shop when she admired a friends new sofa in Menlo Park. She suggested it to me as i was about to buy some new upholstered items for our cottage. I brought in my iPad and Pinterest and Houzz inspiration pages. We quickly found what i was looking for and i could immediately see the rooms as we decided on fabrics. I made just two trips to the store. I left a small deposit..everything arrived right on time and were white glove delivered, put together and placed. All packing materials were taken away. Anyone who has ordered from Pottery Barn know about packaging and the benefit of it all gone. I have lived with the sectional, sofa, 4 big chairs , California King fully upholstered bed and Queen bed for weeks now and absolutely love everything...and i am picky. I believe the total price for my items was easily 20 % lower if i had bought at pottery barn or Ethan Allen. Ethan allen has a 8 -12 week delivery. Sofa Outlet...2-3! The fact its all made here in the USA is important...and the quality of matched stripes, contrast welting and no loose threads...makes this shop a definite find. I will return and buy more from these wonderful women who really want to find or make the items for you. If you come with a concept..they will make it happen. Go!
Bay Area Reviewed Jennnnnifey W. The ladies are very friendly, knowledgeable and they took their time in helping me answer all my questions.
I found Sofa Outlet's ad on CL for the exact furniture I've been wanting at PB. As much as I'm a huge fan of PB, I'm not a fan of their prices for their furniture. One thing that Sofa Outlet does triumph over PB is that you are able to customize just about everything and anything you want with your furniture. They have THOUSANDS of different swatches you can choose from whereas PB you have about 15 different colors. The warranty is lifetime versues one year at PB. And most important, the price is significantly cheaper. I was able to customize my sectional to everything I wanted plus delivery and I still saved $1000! Oh and for delivery, PB said it would take up to 6 weeks for the sectional to deliver.. Why the heck it would take that long since its mass produced???
Overall I would highly recommend anyone to come out and check out the store. It was worth the drive for me and I would come back again to furnish more of my rooms.
We finally purchased our sofas! We took a couple more visits before finally deciding on which sofa in which style, length, color, fabric, etc we wanted. The reason it took so many trips (really, just 3 in total) was because there are SOOOOOOOO many great choices and for two indecisive people, we had to take baby steps!
These sofas are truly customizable...to give you an idea on what you can do... first you start with the style of sofa (arms, cushions), then you can do customize the length and depth to the sofa, then you can customize the look of the cushion (bench or individual, tufted, piling, etc), then you can customize the type of fabric (microfiber suede, microfiber weave, cotton, etc) then you pick the color of fabric (sooooooo many!) and last but not least, the color of the wood on your sofa. We finally decided on the Stala design with a reversible chaise in a Mocha microfiber suede fabric with Espresso Wood. And through the whole process, the staff is very knowledgeable about sofa construction as well as design and what looks good together. They are a very patient staff to say the least and so very personable too. The cushions have a 12 year warranty (all of the sofas we've looked at outside of the Sofa Outlet don't have ANY warranty on cushions!) and the frame has a LIFETIME WARRANTY!! (go anywhere else...macy's included...and they only have a 3 year warranty...which you pay extra for!!) The best part....2 week delivery period! All in all, a great price for a truly custom sofa....would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to buy your sofas here! (they also sell furniture, rugs and have interior design services)
Jennifer Swanton San Bruno, Ca. I wanted to get a new sofa for the longest time, but every time I attempted to look I just found myself overwhelmed. One day I went over to a friend of my daughters and loved her sofa. She told me to go to the Sofa Outlet in San Mateo. I went in and loved everything! I told the sales woman that I had a small, awkward space and she helped me through the whole process. I not only got the sectional I wanted, but she chose my wall color, rug, and accents too! Finally I found a furniture store that works with my needs. Definitely go to the Sofa Outlet if you need great quality furniture and design services.
Reviewed by P.C Santa Clara, Ca We bought one sofa several years ago, and just got our second couch about a week ago. Both time the couches arrived in two weeks, delivered in the two hour window as scheduled. The older couch is doing fine, and the new one is even better!
We added custom configurations to both couches (extra lengths and depths), and even with the extra charges for custom, the prices were still reasonable. The ladies were a pleasure to work with, and welcomed our custom requests.
I am lounging right now on our oversized couch. It was made to our exact measurements, to fit our room. It is very comfortable. There was an outgassing at first, which dissipated with several days of open windows. This is not unique to sofa outlet, but to most new upholstered furniture.
I would not hesitate to send anyone to Sofa Outlet It's fun to design your own couch, and get in a few weeks!
Susan R. San Carlos, CA I have ordered three sets of couches from here and have never had a problem. The best part is you can pick your material and styles. The women in the shop were more than helpful about assisting me in picking out patterns and style of couch. They all have lasted and were delivered usually within two weeks of ordering.
Reviewed BY Shaida S. San Mateo, Ca I had been searching for weeks for just the perfect couch and finally found it at Sofa Outlet. Collette was super nice and helpful and was able to have them build the couch to just the right specifications. The icing on the cake was that the couch arrived after just 1 week! 2 weeks earlier than expected. The delivery guys were very accomodating with my schedule (unlike Jennifer Convertibles). It was a flawless transaction and quality furniture. I wish I had come here before I ordered my sleeper sofa from Jennifer.
Reviewed by Lori K. Palo Alto, Ca We have now purchased 2 sofas and an ottoman from Sofa Outlet (5 years apart). They are knowledgeable, friendly, and have a fantastic selection. In addition, the price cannot be beat for what you get. My husband would not buy a sofa without sitting on it first. Sofa Outlet has a huge selection to try and then they can customize to whatever you need. They advised us on size, color, style, etc. and hit the spot dead on. I would not go anywhere else for the quality, price, and service you get here.
Relationship: Client on Houzz Project Date: September 2015 Project Price Range: $10,000 - $49,999 In writing my last review I neglected to mention two of Mary's team members by name. Kimi and Sadii have been amazing to partner with. Both demonstrate a collaborative spirit and have really taken into account my tastes and input to help create a home style that is truly representative of our family versus a house that simply looks staged. Slowly, as we have guests, everyone remarks on how great our place looks! BIG thanks to Mary, Collette, Kimi & Sadii from Sofa Outlet in San Mateo for their great design skill and fun personalities!
This place is amazing - Great service, good selection, good quality furniture. The personnel were extremely helpful, friendly, and cooperative. The owner even came out to my house and did measurements and recommendations. I got custom sofa's, a rug, end tables... the service people even helped guide me to what features of the sofa's might be particularly useful (or non-useful) to my house, such as using their custom designed sofa "cuddle corner," or getting me to include a sofa arm on another sofa that I initially was going to leave off to leave space - they pointed out guests like to lean against a corner, I hadn't thought about that and would have been unhappy with it eventually. Plus, the prices were very reasonable for custom work.
